Beadweaving

The following are classes taught at The Beaded Peacock. We offer jewelry making classes on a monthly basis. For our current schedule click HERE. Any of the following may be taught privately for an additional $10 fee OR schedule a group of 4 or more, with no additional fee. 

 

 

Brick Stitch Lariat Necklace Brush up on your brick stitch skills to create this fun, funky necklace. This technique can be used for many different projects, making it a good one to have in your repertoire. Students will complete one necklace. All supplies included.

Suggested age: 13+ / Cost: $40

 

 

Brick Stitch Fringe Earrings  - Learn brick stitch and create a pair of fringe earrings using seed & bugle beads. Attendees will be designing their own pattern for these earrings and will create one pair during class, and will be given additional supplies to create another pair at home. All supplies included.
Cost: $30

 

Spiral Rope Bracelet Join Lauren in learning this relatively easy technique to create a spiral of color and texture! You will use thread & different sizes of seed beads to create this bracelet. After learning the basics of this technique, you will find you can use a variety of different types of beads to make these ropes totally unique each time you create one. Beaded ropes look stunning as bracelets, necklaces, or make a great base to add beaded focal pieces to.

Beadweaving Basics: Right-Angle Weave Fold Necklace - New class offering! We developed this class so you may learn the basics of Right-Angle Weave, an essential beadweaving stitch. You will often find this stitch in more advanced patterns and projects. Students will create a Right-Angle Weave swatch using size 8/0 seed beads and Fire-Polished beads. We will then fold the swatch to hang from a chain of your choice creating a gorgeous necklace. Several color options available (Matte Ruby AB and Copper shown here). All supplies included.

Cost: $40 Ages 13+

 

MiniDuo Beaded Egg Bead - This is a fun, intermediate beadweaving class featuring MiniDuos, Delica seed beads, and Fire Polished beads. These beaded beads can be used in multiple ways. (Pendant shown below.) Students will make two beaded egg beads (supplies included) and may purchase additional supplies to create a pendant necklace. **Please note: This class requires basic peyote stitch knowledge.** 
Cost: $45 

 

 Loomwork One - What is a weft? What is a warp? Do not let the complexity of this class keep you from joining, this is a BASICS class. Join Lauren in this class to get started learning all you need to know to create basic loom work. We will cover techniques to select a loom, thread the loom, begin the beading, and finally ending your loom work, & adding clasps. In this two day class, you will complete one loom work bracelet, like the one shown above. A session is broken up into two parts, with an hour break for lunch. (We have several great lunch options here in the village.) If students cannot complete their bracelet in one session, a follow up session may be scheduled. All supplies included.

Loomwork Two - Ready to take loomwork to the next level? The second portion of our Loomwork Class Series, Loomwork Two features Delica seed beads and a new finishing technique. Students will practice following a more complex organic shaped pattern, and we promise you'll thank us for fewer ends to weave in. (Note: this is not taught on a Rick's Loom, we will still be using our favorite wooden looms.) Students will complete one bracelet.

Prerequisites: Loomwork One or previous bead loom experience. We will not be teaching setting up your loom, or the basics of adding beads. 

Cost: $35

 

Loomwork Three - A continuation of our loomwork series, Loomwork 3 features two-holed beads, large beads, seed beads, & more. Learn the technique to incorporate all sorts of beads into your loomwork. Students will complete one bracelet like the one shown; multiple color options available. Prerequisites: Loomwork One or previous bead loom experience. We will not be teaching the set up or basics of adding beads to your loom. 

Cost: $40, includes supplies.

 

Loomwork Four - This class will introduce students to working with fiber in their beaded loomwork. We will work with seed beads and embroidery floss to create a mini loomwork tapestry bracelet. Students can be as creative as they wish in designing their work. We will have multiple color options available.

*Pre-requisite: Loomwork One class or previous bead loom experience. We will not cover basic warp and set up of looms during class.

Cost $35, includes supplies. Students must bring their loom to class.

 

Kumihimo Basics - Adapted from Japanese tradition, Kumihimo means "come together" and was traditionally the braiding of cords by hand. Join Lauren to learn all you need to know to get started in beaded Kumihimo. This technique is fun to learn and the projects can travel well, making it a great one for long car trips or a weekend getaway project. Students will create a bracelet using seed beads, cord, and end caps. All supplies are included.

Cost: $35

 

Kumihimo Two -  Take your Kumihimo skills to the next level. In this class we will discuss different ways to use shaped beads in your Kumihimo projects. Students will complete a necklace using seed beads, Pip beads, end caps, and chain. 

Prerequisite: Kumihimo One or previous Kumihimo experience. Please note, we will not be teaching basics of beaded kumihimo. 

Cost $40, includes all supplies, multiple color options available. 

 

 

Honeycomb Bangle - Join Lauren for this fun bangle class using two-holed beads. Students will practice using Honeycomb, SuperDuos, MiniDuos, and seed beads to construct a bangle using colors of their choice. These bangles look great alone, or stacked. 

Cost $15 + Supplies (~$20), Supply list will be provided at sign up. 
Note: There are no pre-requisites for this class, however, any kind of beadweaving experience will be highly beneficial.

Basic Bead Embroidery- Have you seen any of Lauren's beautiful beadwork and wished you could create something like it yourself? Now is your chance to learn! Make a basic bead embroidery pendant around a cabachon in this two-part class. Students will need to attend both nights of class and will have homework to complete in between sessions. 

Cost: $40, includes supplies. 
Rolling Rivoli Pendant - Join Lauren in learning to make these stunning components using Swarovski crystal rivolis, seed beads, and pinch beads. Students will be shown how they can alter this pattern to get a different look. Students may make pendants or earrings if they wish. This is an intermediate level bead stitching class. Any type of bead stitching experience will be helpful, but is not required to take this class.

Cost: $35, includes supplies to make two pendants (or earrings). Several color options will be available.
